PACKAGING & SUSTAINABILITY
IS THE FOOD PACKAGING RECYCLABLE?
Yes all our packaging is recyclable. We do not use styrofoam boxes, instead we use cardboard outer packaging with a wool insulation called Woolcool to both insulate and help with product stability in transit. All of our containers are also recyclable. We encourage you to rinse the containers and recycle them with your cardboard in your bin once finished with.
WHAT DO I DO WITH THE WOOLCOOL ONCE I’M FINISHED WITH IT?
The wool is sustainable, recyclable, compostable and biodegradable. The polyethylene wrap is also recyclable. If the Woolcool cannot be re-used as it is, the wool can be recycled and re-used or put to many good uses from lagging pipes to insulating garden plants from the frost or as mulch!
HOW DOES WOOLCOOL KEEP CONTENTS COOL?
Wool fibres are incredibly effective at absorbing moisture from the air which minimises humidity and condensation to maintain stable temperatures. The polyethylene wrap which encloses the wool in Woolcool is micro-perforated to allow the fibres to breathe and create the natural cooling system.
WHAT IS WOOLCOOL INSULATION MADE OF?
100% felted sheep’s wool, sealed within industry grade polyethylene wrap.
HOW IS WOOLCOOL MADE?
Sheep’s fleeces are naturally washed, scoured and felted to make the insulation material to the required thickness which is then cut into strips and sealed within a polyethylene wrap.
IS THE WOOL HYGIENIC?
Yes, wool is perfectly safe. The natural washing and scouring process requires no chemicals, additives or further sterilisation. Wool fibres have been scientifically proven to absorb and lock-in bacteria and dangerous chemicals. The wool is sealed within a polyethylene wrap to prevent the fibres coming into direct contact with packaged contents.
WHAT ABOUT THE ACTIVITY CARD PACKS?
Our Activity Cards are made with FSC certified paper ('Forest Stewardship Council' an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting responsible forestry.) Our felt pouches are made by using recycled synthetic materials.
